National Honor Society
The faculty invites students to become members of the National Honor Society based on the following criteria:
- A student must be of at least junior standing and have maintained a minimum of 3.50 G.P.A. for the first two and a half years of high school.
- A student should exhibit leadership qualities and be involved in leadership activities and role each year.
- A student must participate in several activities yearly that may include school, and/or community.
- The student shall submit to the Faculty Committee teacher recommendation forms from all current teachers.
The National Honor Society may set additional membership requirements. The School Faculty Committee based on the NHS Handbook, the organization's constitution, rules, regulations, and procedures makes the final decisions concerning membership.
National Honor Society members are all expected to maintain the Society's high standards not only at school and school-related events, but at ALL times.
Students who enroll at UAS after the induction held in the spring of the junior year will be considered for induction in the fall of their senior year.
U.A.S. Community Service Club
We are a club of action! We are a diverse group of students who are united by the goal of wanting to help those who are less fortunate, of wanting to make their lives a little happier and their burdens a little lighter.
All of our schools participate in activities for this club. Most recently, our K.G. and elementary Community Service Sponsors organized a blanket drive for the victims of the Pakistani earthquake. Our successful "Cover with Love" campaign collected over 1200 blankets, which were collected by the Pakistani Embassy.
Our U.A.S. COMMUNITY SERVICE CLUB works in conjunction with our National Honor Society group and our U.N.E.S.C.O. group. We all share one common goal - helping those in need.
Student Council
The Student Council, which meets monthly, exists to provide an important link among students, faculty, and staff to sponsor students activities and to provide a method of developing democratic leadership and citizenship. Class officers from each grade level make up the membership, with the Student Council officers taking the lead in conducting meetings and guiding activities.
Each grade level is represented by a President, Vice-President, Secretary and Treasurer elected at the beginning of each year. Officers are elected by the membership of each class after a week of campaigning.
Students wishing to run for office are required to maintain a 2.6 G.P.A., exhibit excellent conduct, and be involved in the life of the school.
To maintain an elected position on the Student Council, a class officer must maintain the 2.6 G.P.A. and not be suspended from school for any reason. At the end of any semester, if an officer's cumulative G.P.A. falls below 2.6, the student will be removed from the office to focus on academic achievement.
