The high school counseling program, an integral part of a student's education, is the shared responsibility of the entire high school staff. Teachers and counselor together assist students in learning, development, and decision-making, a continuous process throughout the high school years.
The goal of the college preparatory curriculum is the articulation and transition from UAS to post secondary study. The counselor assists students to develop parent-approved learning plans that best meet their individual needs. The counselor is available to encourage and counsel students in decision-making, goal setting, and taking the necessary action to achieve their goals.
high school
The high school at the Universal American School prepares graduates for university studies. This
preparation requires:
- a rigorous academic program
- wide array of co-curricular activities
- firm but fair discipline
- a demanding, but supportive staff
- clear and frequent communication with parents
Our graduates go on to highly-reputed colleges and universities throughout the world, equipped to succeed because they have been held to high standards during their high school years. UAS graduates learn how to express their thoughts, how to analyze problems and formulate solutions, how to do academic research, and how to collect, assess and present data. They also learn how to contribute to team and group efforts, how to interact with others, how to discipline themselves and how to sustain effort over long periods of time.
UAS High School is an intense learning environment. Students generally have two hours or more of homework each night in subjects including English, mathematics, science, social studies, computer studies, religion, and world languages. In addition, students have opportunities to study art, music, physical education and health, to participate in athletics, Model UN, drama, and other extracurricular activities, and to learn from a highly talented and diverse staff.
