Middle School Promotion Requirements
Grade 6 students are required to earn 16 credits in order to be promoted to Grade 7. Successfully completing core class requirements (English/language arts, mathematics, science, social studies, Arabic language, Islamic religion, and the Holy Quran) earns one credit per class per semester. Exploratory and elective classes earn ΒΌ credit each semester. Grade 6 students must master Middle School Math II in order to be prepared for Grade 7 math. (Mastery means achievement level of 80% or more.) Daily participation in all classroom learning activities and completion of all homework assignments are expected.
Grade 7 students are required to earn 16 additional credits in order to be promoted to Grade 8. All Grade 7 students are expected to master Prealgebra in order to be prepared for Grade 8 math. Daily participation in all classroom learning activities and completion of all homework assignments are expected.
Grade 8 students are required to earn 16 additional credits in order to graduate and be promoted to Grade 9. All Grade 8 students must master Algebra I in order to be prepared for more advanced mathematics classes in high school. Daily participation in all classroom learning activities and completion of all homework assignments are expected.
