The Universal American School-Kuwait is a nonprofit, private co-educational, college-preparatory day school serving a multi-national student body of approximately 1,600 students from nursery to grade 12. UAS is accredited by the Council of International Schools and the New England Association of Schools and Colleges. Our professional staff is innovative and student-focused with a desire to continuously improve learning opportunities for students in a collaborative learning environment.


UAS offers a full American program with twelve AP courses offered. Eighty percent of the students taking AP exams scored at a "3" or higher in 2010. The College Board's Advanced Placement Program and its AP International Diploma are integral parts of the school program. Counseling services are provided and include preparation for TOEFL, PSAT, SAT, PLAN, ACT and school-wide achievement tests. College admissions are assisted by the College Board's ExPan services.

To receive the UAS diploma, a student must complete 28 credits, with courses in English, mathematics, natural sciences, social sciences, computer technology, physical education, electives, Islamic religion (for Moslems only), and world languages. The school offers Arabic for Arabs, Arabic-as a foreign language, French and Spanish. All teachers are highly qualified and many have served at UAS for many years. Many faculty members have earned advanced degrees in addition to the required teaching certification. The school year comprises two semesters (four nine-week quarters of a 4X4 "accelerated block" schedule) between late August and early-June. Report cards are issued at the end of each quarter.

It is our goal to provide opportunities that offer excellence in arts, academics and athletics for continued educational pursuits with extended study at many first rate universities. Extracurricular activities include a range of sports, drama, art, music, band, yearbook, and journalism, Model UN, student government, spring carnival, computer club, chess and many more. The sports program includes the major sports of basketball, soccer, volleyball, badminton, and track and field. UAS is a member of the KFSAC and ISAC, local and regional activities conferences, respectively. UAS is a UNESCO Associated School. Staff members are experienced, energetic, and enthusiastic with a sense of adventure.

The school is located in State of the art newly built facilities on two acres site in Hawally, a suburb of Kuwait City. The new campus includes a large library with over 25,000 volumes of books and periodicals. Subscription services include large number of magazine, journals and several dozen-reference materials on CD Rom. Our Video/DVD holding run just over 1,150 titles. Several TV sets, VCR, DVD players are in the library for the daily use. There are also 30 computers with high-speed access to the Internet. The library has an access to the EBSCO magazine/journals. Our new facilities also include 3 swimming pools, indoor sports hall, Auditorium with around 400 seats, large Clinic with high standard health services, three high school science labs, and one middle school science lab. The school utilizes a very advanced and well-prepared technology program with more than 200 PC's throughout the school. There is a computer lab in each of the departments with access to high speed Internet.

UAS selectively admits students that qualify for admission based on interviews and entrance examinations at all levels. UAS students are eager to learn, well supported by superior staff and administrators and prepared to meet today's world with the social, emotional, intellectual and cultural experiences to be successful in life and the world at large.
