A message from the KG Principal:
The KG2 staff and administrators were so proud of our students during the promotion ceremony on June 7th, 2018! They are off to first grade and are well prepared! To keep them excited about learning, here are my thoughts:
Let them struggle! Through struggle they will learn to persist until they are successful.
Let them be bored! Boredom is the gateway to innovation.
Let them experience failure! Failure builds character and creativity.
Let them be independent! In the words of Maria Montessori: Never do for your child what they can do for themselves. Children need to know that they have the power to accomplish tasks on their own. This builds self-reliance.
Notice I didn’t ask you to practice any academics, there is plenty of time for that. The time is now for establishing a love of learning, a curiosity for all things that interest them and to establish the belief within your child that they can achieve anything they set their minds to.
We will miss their presence in our department but know we will see them either on the playground or in the hallways, as their sphere of activity expands. Best wishes to the new first grade class of 2018-2019!
